Game Recap

The Warriors took the field for the first time in 21 years with a tremendous sense of excitement. While the outcome of the game was not anything anyone involved with the program would have wanted, there were some bright spots and moments which the team can use to build on going forward. Senior lineman Leonard Payne showed off his conditioning, playmaking ability, and high motor, being nearly unblockable on defense, and rarely coming off the field. The Warriors are a young team, and showed their youth, but showed some flashes of their potential as they prepare for the rest of the season.

Game Recap

In a home game on Tuesday, May 9, our PMA Warriors lost in a hard-fought volleyball battle to CIF Round 1 opponent Woodcrest Christian (Riverside). In an electrically-charged gym, the Warriors captured the third match, forcing a fourth match after dropping the first two. Senior and team captain Alfredo Ramirez had 24 assists with particular precision setting to his fellow OPP, senior Matthew Rivera, and to MH senior, Manuel Padilla.  Padilla had his best game of the season with 6 kills and 6 blocks, followed by Matthew Rivera leading all offense with a team high 7 kills. Middle hitter Ahmed Salem supported the defensive charge with 4 blocks, combined with the defensive passing of libero Ivan Ayala and with the aid of defensive specialist, Luis Fuerte. Warrior juniors Ivan Gutierrez (OH) and Luis Morales (OH) contributed 4 kills each to the team effort. The Warriors conclude the 2016-2017 season as the 2017 Santa Fe Mens Volleyball League Champions! The PMA mens volleyball program thanks Woodcrest Christian for a hard fought game, and we send our prayers and best wishes to all remaining teams in the Division 5 CIF Playoff Tournament
