Warriors News · Cross Country Athlete Of The Week

BOYS:  Edgardo Garcia is our Boys’ Cross Country Athlete of the Week.  Edgardo has never run CC and decided to try it out in his senior year.  He’s worked hard and was rewarded with a new PR this past week in the 2nd of 3 Camino Real League meets.  Congrats Edgardo… keep it up!
GIRLS:  Majella Carrera is our Girls’ Cross Country Athlete of Week.  Majella formerly attended Holy Family H.S. in Glendale.  CIF transfer rules required her to sit out the first 30 days of the season.  The meet last week was her first opportunity to show what she can do and she did a great job of doing so.  She has been an awesome addition and her work ethic is impeccable.  In the previous league meet our girls finished #1 and #2 in the Varsity race.  With the addition of Majella we finished #1, #2, and #3 last week!  She came in 1st and will help our girls a lot in their quest for another league championship.  She also established a PR that we hope she will break very soon.

Warriors News · Cross Country Athletes of The Week

For the 2nd week in a row Matthew Felix, a junior, is CC Athlete of the Week.  In only his second meet ever run, he established a new Personal Record again!  His mile 3 was also his strongest.  He has added a lot to our team in very little time and has quickly become our #4 runner on the boys’ team.  He was also the only Warrior to score a new PR among the boys.
Maritza Perez, a junior, is our CC Athlete of the Week.  Maritza was unable to participate in CC or Track her sophomore year.  This was her first meet in two years and she came out on fire establishing a new Personal Record.  She was the only Warrior among the girls to do so.

BOYS: Matthew Felix became eligible the day of our Rosemead Invitational meet.  He wasn’t prepared to run for obvious reasons but when he saw the excitement of a big meet he asked to run.  He borrowed a uniform and fortunately had his shoes in his backpack.  Rosemead was run by your grade in school.  Matthew came in with a blazing time of 18:40.6!  That is an amazing time for a first time runner and it earned him a handsome medal.  He’s been working hard at practice and never misses.  So for his effort and dedication Matthew is our Boys’ CC Athlete of the Week.

GIRLS:  Ana Narvaez has worked hard to return to her times of last season when she was an instrumental part of our Santa Fe League Champion team and CIF Finalists.  She is dedicated and as focused as ever.  She wasn’t pleased with her time at last week’s Great Cow Run.  So she pushed herself at practice.  It showed at Rosemead as she knocked an amazing 3.5 minutes off her time.  For her motivation and effort, Ana is our CC Athlete of the week.
