Bio:

Coach Nieshe Washington will begin her seventh year as the Head Girls Varsity Soccer Coach at St. Pius X- St. Matthias Academy (PMA).  Coach Washington has 7 years of experience coaching soccer at the high school level and 2 years of experience coaching club soccer within Cal South Coast Soccer League. Coach Washington also has increased her duties here at PMA as she takes on the role as an Assistant Principal in charge of Academics.

Her competitive career and development as a player began at age twelve with the Valley United Soccer Club.  She went on to earn a position on William Howard Taft High School’s competitive Varsity soccer team, which competed in post-season play each year of her tenure.  She accumulated a wide array of accolades, being recognized First Team All-League West Valley four times, a CIF Los Angeles City Section First-Team selection, team’s Most Valuable Defender four years consecutively, and Academic All-Conference four times. Throughout that time she worked with local youth players to develop their technical skills and tactical awareness through volunteer-based clinics.

Coach Washington continued to grow in the game through her play by walking on the Loyola Marymount University’s Club Soccer team during her time at LMU.  She graduated with a Bachelor’s in Psychology, using her degree to enter the Physical Therapy field as a PT Aide. After spending a year in the field, she pursued a call to the vocation of teaching, entering LMU once again as a graduate student in the PLACE Corps (Partners in Los Angeles Education). She earned her Masters degree in Education and California teaching credential in Biological Sciences at Loyola Marymount University and has been a member of the PMA Faculty for six years currently serving as the Dean of Curriculum & Instruction, Science Department Chair, and Instructor.

Coach Washington is eager to return to the pitch to build upon the successes of their first Santa Fe League Championship in the 2019-2020 season. Coach Washington & the PMA Women’s Soccer team aim to continue their success as they move up to  the Camino Real League in the 2020-2021 season.
